Ysabela Trujillo

Co-Founder, Creative Member

Ysabela Trujillo is a Dance Artist based in New Mexico. She has performed and taught Nationally, Internationally and currently a corp-dancer in Yjastros; the American Flamenco Repertory Company. Ysabela is the co-founder with Roxana Jian of Spanish Broom, a music and dance collaborative based in Albuquerque, NM.

Roxana Jian

Co-Founder, Creative Member

Roxana Rocki Jian graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.A in Dance with a concentration in Flamenco. She has traveled internationally and nationally with dance and music. She continues her career as a Flamenco Dancer in Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, and is a co-founder of the Flamenco collaborative Spanish Broom

Olivia Marín

Olivia began dancing flamenco at age 15 in Denver with Maria Vasquez. In 2012, she moved to Albuquerque to dance at the conservatory and UNM under Eva, Marisol and Joaquin Encinias. During her time at UNM, she took classes with renowned flamenco artists such as Tacha Gonzalez, Daniel Doña, La Popi. She joined Yjastros; the American Flamenco Repertory Company in 2016 She has been with Spanish Broom since 2018.

Andrea Lozano

Marketing Team, Creative Member

Andrea M. Lozano began dancing at the age of four under Cristina Greco in Laredo, TX. She moved to Albuquerque, NM to continue studying flamenco at The University of New Mexico. Andrea graduated from the university with a BA in Dance concentrating in Flamenco. She is currently a member of Spanish Broom Flamenco and a Junior Corp member with Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company.

Dolores Garcia

Creative Member

Dolores was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in 1982, she spent her young life training in ballet folklorico and singing Mariachi music. She also trained in classical singing as a young person. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance with an emphasis in flamenco, and a Masters degree in Dance History and Criticism, both from the University of New Mexico. During this time, she studied with celebrated flamenco artists brought to the University such as Concha Jareño, Carmen la Talegona, Alejandro Granados, Antonio Canales, Jose Maya, and Mercedes Amaya, among others. She also trained at the National Institute of Flamenco, where she apprenticed as a flamenco dance teacher under Eva Encinias for several years. She now focuses on flamenco cante, and has studied intensively with Antonio Gabarri Jimenez, Alicia Morales, Loreto de Diego, and Eva Ruiz.

Aileen Gonzalez

Aileen Gonzalez is a 22-year-old musician from Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a deep passion for music. From her earliest memories, Aileen has been enamored with music, fueling her passion for creative expression. At the age of 11, she began to study Flamenco at Tierra Adentro of New Mexico, a performing arts school. She has dedicated herself to the art of Flamenco cante. Aileen has performed in many school shows and, more recently, has started performing at Tablaos. Through her dedication, Aileen has had the privilege to study with artists like Alicia Morales and Isa Jurado, enhancing her artistry and love for the Flamenco tradition. Since her introduction to Flamenco in 2013, Aileen continues to grow as a musician and performer.

Cory McBride

Creative Member

Cory McBride from Farmington, New Mexico studied music and dance at the University of New Mexico. They have performed professionally as a violist in multiple music ensembles throughout the state, including the San Juan Symphony. They currently collaborate as a dancer and singer with Spanish Broom.

Estevan Pacheco

Creative Member

Estevan Pacheco, a native of New Mexico, began playing guitar at age 13. Estevan studied Flamenco guitar with Ricardo Anglada, Mario Febres, John Truitt, and Calvin Hazen through Tierra Adentro de Nuevo México and the National Institute of Flamenco. He regularly performs with the National Institute of Flamenco at the Flamenco Tablao in Hotel Albuquerque and at El Farol in Santa Fe. In 2023 he graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in performance guitar.

  • Caro Acuña-Olvera

    Creative Member

    Caro has over 27 years of experience as a professional musician and has toured domestically and internationally. She has also studied vocals and percussion in The US, Cuba and Spain. She has performed in many venues including domestic and international music festivals, theater productions, cathedrals, clubs and charity events. She also produces music in collaboration with other artists to support projects with musical arrangements, compositions, music production using live and digital music/sounds, and soundscape production.

  • Merlot Visocaro

    Creative Member

    Merlot Visocaro was born in San Antonio, Texas. She began dancing at a young age under her grandmother, Cresenciana Gutierrez. She then moved to Albuquerque to pursue a degree in dance under Eva and Marisol Encinias at the University of New Mexico. While attending UNM, Merlot studied flamenco technique and choreography with guest artists such as Daniel Doña, Olga Pericet, Rafael Estevez, Valeriano Paños and Adrian Santana. She is currently performing in the southwest with various companies and collaborates with the flamenco collective, Spanish Broom.

  • Talia Vastal

    Creative Member

    Talia Vestal is from Santa Barbara, CA where she was introduced to flamenco at an early age by Linda Vega and Maria Bermudez. Talia began working professionally upon moving to Washington for her undergraduate studies, performing and teaching in the Seattle area. Talia found her way to New Mexico 5 years ago to deepen her understanding of flamenco and study and teach at the National Institute of Flamenco. She joined Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory in 2022 and joined Spanish Broom in 2023.

  • Eloy Cito Gonzales

    Creative Member

    Born in 1998, Eloy began studying flamenco with the opening of Tierra Adentro de Nuevo México charter school in 2010. Shortly after, he received a scholarship to the National Institute of Flamenco’s Conservatory of Flamenco Arts. Since then Eloy has dedicated himself to the study of flamenco guitar while pursuing a degree in liberal and interdisciplinary arts at The University of New Mexico. In February of 2023 Eloy was part of the first American flamenco company to be invited to perform in the prestigious Festival de Jerez in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. He performs professionally in tablaos and theater productions nationally and throughout New Mexico.
